The Lone Bellow

The Lone Bellow

Then Came the Morning, the second album by the Southern-born, Brooklyn-based indie-folk trio the Lone Bellow, opens with a crest of churchly piano, a patter of drums, and a fanfare of voices harmonizing like a sunrise. It’s a powerful introduction, enormous and overwhelming, as Zach Williams, Brian Elmquist, and Kanene Pipkin testify mightily to life’s great struggles and joys, heralding the morning that dispels the dark night: “Then came the morning! It was bright, like the light that you kept from your smile!” Working with producer Aaron Dessner of the National, the Lone Bellow has created a sound that mixes folk sincerity, gospel fervor, even heavy metal thunder, but the heart of the band is harmony: three voices united in a lone bellow.  Read More...

Muddy Magnolias

Muddy Magnolias

American music is a mile-wide river that beckons black and white, urban and rural, dreamer and doer alike to launch their vessels. All the streams of style and genre flow into it; its tributaries are blues and jazz, mountain and folk, rock, soul and R&B.

The release of the debut album by Muddy Magnolias, Broken People, marks the launch of a great new vessel onto that waterway. The album showcases a confluence of style and sound as colorful as it is unlikely, steeped in that river of influence, yet bracingly fresh.

With Broken People, Jessy Wilson and Kallie North take us on an 11-song journey with its origins in two widely divergent backgrounds that came together in a friendship and creative partnership with world-changing resonance.  Read More...

Family and Friends

Family and Friends

Formed under the idea of “Good People. Good Music,” in April of 2013, Family And Friends is the summation of 7 people rapt in indie-folk-rock. Based out of Athens, GA, they triumph exhilarating and heart-pumping live shows with two drummers that are standing at almost all times, deeply layered instrumentation, and vocal harmonies that push their songs closer to home.

“There are no ulterior motives here, just solid songs chock-full of sincerity.” - Dan Mistich from Flagpole Magazine

“7 people with their own individual talents, who when combined, create magic that is so much more than just the sum of its parts… It’s the way they come together, the way that they balance each other and feed off of each other, that makes this band so special.“ - Julia from BLDG 25 Blog
